Advanced Technology for Science Education
It was designed and executed by ORT-Chile, aiming to improve the level of Scientific Education in public Secondary Schools The Project
Coca-Cola Foundation, using the Educational National Donations Law Where does the financial support come from?
Aiming to finance and support innovation Educational Projects, culture and environmental protection composed by Coca-Cola International and National Bottlers. Coca Cola of Chile Foundation
Providing the schools with: -Infrastructure -Equipment -Training -Technical Assistance How does TAVEC fulfill its goals?
Infrastructure A relative small amount of money that covers for painting, furniture, light, water and gas installations and security, in pre- existing class rooms.
8 workstations with A-D Interfaces & control software Set of sensors and probes Complementary equipment Audiovisual equipment Portable Workstation for Environmental Experiments Educational Software Students Science Laboratory
The Workstation Composed by: PC + A/D Interface + Acquisition software + Sensors
The Audiovisual Equipment Composed by: TV + VGA/Video Interface + Video Camera
The Acquisition Software Specially designed for students to acquire data in real time from an experiment, that permits various kinds of data processing, and its visualization by means of graphics.
Sensors & Probes 17 sensors & probes: Motion detector - Force probe Current & voltage sensor-Light sensor Temperature-magnetic field sensor Microphone- O2 gas sensor pressure sensor - pH sensor Conductivity sensor- Respiration rate monitor Heart rate monitor-Colorimeter Humidity sensor - CO2 gas sensor EKG sensor
200 hours of service training: Scientific contents Methodology Technology Evaluation Teachers Training Courses
Structured in three main directions: Methodology oriented to students Inquiry Based Instruction Creative Thinking Team Work
Mainly the same methodology is used as with the students Methodology oriented to teachers
2 years of e-learning + 6 Supervision visits Technical Assistance
The Project is: Ten years in Service In 33 Cities In 54 Schools 200 Biology Teachers 170 Chemistry Teachers 130 Physics Teachers Students Arica Punta Arenas Eastern Island Current Stage
Benefits of the Project Students: have the possibility to learn Sciences with the aid of advanced technology. Teachers: improve their professional qualification and perform motivating lectures. Educational System: The possibility to provide Science Education equally for everyone.
