Guidelines for Group Work and Presentations
Presentation transcript:

1 Guidelines for Group Work Hiroshi Toyoizumi

2 Schedule WEEK 1: Introductory Lecture WEEK 2: Group Work WEEK 3: Group Work WEEK 4: Presentation day!

3 Before Presentation 1. Select a topic of your group. 2. Register the selected topic via the mailing list or a group-ware. No groups share one topic. First-come-first-serve basis. 3. Prepare your presentation. 4. Upload your documents somewhere on the internet. 5. Send the URL of your documents using the mailing list or a groupware by the midnight of the day before the presentation class. 6. At the beginning of the presentation class, Toyoizumi will pick up to 6 (or maybe 5?) groups for presentations. Sorry! 7. At the beginning of your group’s presentation, if you are lucky enough, you might be assigned to the speaker of your group.

4 At the Presentation You have total 13 min.  10 min. presentation  3 min. Q & A Notes:  8 minute-warning.  Be sure that you might be evaluated by the time you consumed.  Help call.  If you really get stuck in a question, you may ask help from your teammates.

5 At the presentations Peer review: 1. Listen carefully at your peer’s presentations. 2. Rank them according to your own criteria. 3. Submit your evaluation (the best group) via or group ware. 4. Your group will be rated according to the results. Those groups who failed to make their presentation will be evaluated by Toyoizumi. Remember, your evaluation will be made public! Be responsible for your evaluation.

6 Awards The champion of group work will be decided at the end of the course according to the result of three presentations. The champion group will be given (unofficial, secret and precious?) rewards. The worst groups (the losers!) will be given time to express their excuse for the poor performance, if requested.
