Background Facts Stem Cells discovered in 1998 Currently no federal funding for stem cell research Currently illegal to research stem cells in Michigan Public is evenly divided

Should the Government Fund Stem Cell Research? Yes -stem cells may hold the cure to diabetes, alzheimers etc -embryos are from clinics and would be destroyed anyway -religion should stay out of government decisions No -destroys human life, same as abortion -opens door to scary science: cloning, body farming etc. -unethical: medicine’s code is “do no harm”
