EDWARD WESTON Anne-Sophie Salnave And Gabby

FUN FACTS.  Edward Weston developed formalism in order to elevate ordinary objects into fine art.  Transformed a vegetable into a composition of flowing line and texture in "pepper“  In 1923 Weston moved to Mexico City where he opened a photographic studio with his apprentice and lover Tina Modotti.  He began working as an itinerant photographer. He peddled his products door to door photographing children, pets and funerals. Artichoke Halved 1930

 Pictorialism largely subscribed to the idea that art photography needed to imitate the painting and design of the time. MOST OF THESE PICTURES WERE BLACK & WHITE OR SEPIA-TONED.  Among the methods used were soft focus, special filters and lens coatings, heavy manipulation in the darkroom, and exotic printing processes. Art Movement

 His precisionist works often portrayed lines and shapes. Edward Weston Dunes Oceano

IN MY OPINION MY ARTIST IS REALLY INTO MOVEMENT AND CONTRAST. ALL OF HIS ART WORK FOCUSES IN ON THING ONLY AND HE FINDS THE RIGHT ANGLE TO MAKE THE PHOTOGRAPHY HAVE A SORT OF UNITY EVEN IF IT’S ONLY BY THE VALUE OR THE ORGANIC SHAPES.

MY ARTIST USES A LOT OF ORGANIC SHAPES AND MODELS IN HIS ART WORK. THE MODELS ARE MOSTLY FEMALE.

HIS WORK INSPIRES ME TO FOCUS ON ONE SINGLE OBJECT THAT HAS A GREAT ORGANIC SHAPE, AND HE ALSO MAKES ME THINK OF HOW TO FILL UP THE WHOLE PICTURE WITH INTERESTING LINES AND SHAPES THAT CAUSE THE VIEWER EYE TO MOVE THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE PICTURE.
