WATER AND ECOLOGY IN ENGLISH LITERATURE( QUOTES)

Through our history there were always poets who were aware how important was to protect the Nature and how water and air polution affected plants and organisms living in seas, rivers, lakes…. Many poets like Wordsworth,Shelly,Keats,Byron ect. have always been celebrated for their love of Nature.

Wordsworth` s poems reveal an intimate bondig with native world. One of the most celebrated native poets is John Ruskin.Ruskin, like Wordsworth, belived Nature to be the best teacher for men and that ”all other efforts in education were in vain till you have taught your people to love fields, birds and flowers.”

William Morns was another poet who wrote about ecological themes. His song ˝The Earthly Paradise˝ advises the reader to: ˝... dream of London, small and white, and clean, The clear Thames bordered by its gardens green…˝

For Emerson nature was the source of beauty, peace and privacy. In his essay ˝Nature˝ he says: ˝We are as much strangers in nature as we are aliens fom God.We do not understand the notes of the birds. The fox and the deer run away from us,the bear and the tiger rend us.˝

Here are some famous quotes: ˝You wouldn`t think you could kill an ocean, would you?But we’ll do it one day. That’s how negligent we are.˝ Ian Rankin
