“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” Isaiah 61:1

Pray freedom for The estimated 35.8 million people in modern- day slavery around the world The estimated 10, ,000 women, children and men in modern-day slavery in the UK 75% of all victims of trafficking worldwide who are women and girls People vulnerable to traffickers because of poverty

Pray freedom for Women and girls being exploited in prostitution – for their health, safety and freedom Children held captive and forced to work as domestic servants and in cannabis farms – for courage, protection and freedom Men forced to work in factories and farms for little or no money

Pray freedom for Survivors who have been arrested and imprisoned for crimes they were forced to commit by their traffickers Survivors as they recover from their ordeal and try to rebuild their lives Children now in the care of local authorities – that they would receive the support they need and be safe from the influence of their traffickers

For charities, their staff and volunteers providing support for victims in their immediate and long term recovery, including: – The Salvation Army, TARA, Migrant Help, Women’s Aid, Unseen, Medaille Trust, City Hearts, The Snowdrop Project, The Poppy Project, Hope for Justice and many more. Pray strength and provision for those supporting victims

For social workers, foster carers, and specialist advocates/guardians working with trafficked children - for wisdom and compassion For charities supporting those in prostitution and helping them to find a way out, especially those in the Beyond the Streets network. Pray strength and provision for those supporting victims

Pray wisdom and boldness for those in authority For all police officers that they would know and spot the signs of trafficking and exploitation For Police Commanders, Chief Constables, and Police and Crime Commissioners – that they would make investigating these crimes a priority

For all immigration and UK Border Force officers – that they would be vigilant for victims of trafficking For those making decisions under the National Referral Mechanism about whether a person has been a victim – for wisdom and compassion Pray wisdom and boldness for those in authority

For the new Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, Kevin Hyland – as he seeks to help police and other agencies improve their response to trafficking and modern-day slavery Pray wisdom and boldness for those in authority

The British Government, particularly for those taking a lead on these issues: – Theresa May, Home Secretary – Karen Bradley, Minister for Preventing Abuse and Exploitation – Lord Bates, Minister of State, Home Office Pray wisdom and boldness for those in authority

Members of Parliament and Peers speaking up against trafficking: – Baroness Butler-Sloss, Fiona Mactaggart MP, Lord McColl, Frank Field MP and other members of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery – Gavin Shuker MP and the All Party Group on Prostitution and the Global Sex Trade Pray wisdom and boldness for those in authority

The administrations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales Particularly for those taking a lead on these issues – David Ford, Justice Minster, Northern Ireland – Michael Matheson, Justice Secretary, Scotland – Leighton Andrews, Minister for Public Services, Wales – Lesley Griffiths, Minister for Communities, Wales Pray wisdom and boldness for those in authority

Pray transformation for Those who seek to make money at others’ expense – that they would be convicted by God of their wrongdoing and turn away from this life Those who exploit, abuse, inflict violence, pain and fear on others – that their hearts would be changed and they would be filled with compassion Those who participate in abuse by paying for sexual services – for their eyes to be opened and an end to this behaviour

Thank God For the recent new legislation – Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Criminal Justice and Support for Victims) (Northern Ireland) Act 2015 – Modern Slavery Act 2015 in England and Wales For the other new legislation going through parliament – Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Scotland) Bill in Scotland For the new initiatives especially better support and protection for victims that is being introduced through all this legislation

Thank God That Jesus is good news to the poor and freedom to the captive and the oppressed That no person or situation is hidden from His sight or beyond the power of His grace That in Christ the world has a strong and certain hope That the Holy Spirit in His church is more powerful than the evil one
