Adult, Health and Community Services 2 What do we charge for? Most of adult social care is paid for by the government through grants or by council tax payers. People receiving services need to pay towards the cost of these services depending on how much money they have. There are two types of services: Charges for residential care Charges for community care This consultation is looking at community care.

Adult, Health and Community Services 3 These suggestions will affect people who receive: home care day care transport to day care services/respite respite care in a care home and all direct payments Other services are NOT affected such as: residential care, equipment and adaptations to your home, telecare, reablement and carer sitting services. Adult, Health and Community Services 5 No People with low incomes pay nothing People with savings or those who have money over £23,250 pay the full amount of the charge Other people will be means tested, this means they will look to see how much money they have and charge them with what they can afford At present the 3 groups have roughly the same amount of people in each of them. Do all people pay these charges?

Adult, Health and Community Services 6 Warwickshire County Council is looking at the charges that customers pay towards the costs of their adult social care services. The main things we are suggesting are that we:  Remove subsidies (discount on services)  Protect people who are on low incomes What are we consulting on?

Adult, Health and Community Services 7 Warwickshire can no longer afford to subsidise care and support services The new government says that there will be no council tax rises next year and councils will be asked to reduce their spending We also need new charging policies, as we will start ‘personal budgets’ for all customers. Why change?

Adult, Health and Community Services 12 What are we consulting on? 3.The maximum weekly charge that someone pays at the moment is £ Even if your care and support costs more than this, you will not be charged any more. The suggestion is to get rid of the maximum weekly charge in the future so people pay for services they receive. Do you think the maximum charge should remain or be removed? £387.13

Adult, Health and Community Services 13 4.At the moment people don’t have to pay charges if they receive income support plus 40% and below. The Government guidance is that it should be income support plus 25%. Most other councils charge this way. The proposal is to follow the Government guidance which means that more people will have to pay for services in the future. Do you agree that the Council should make this change?
