Porvoo 7 Key Issue for DVLA §By 2008 DVLA will be issuing millions of smartcard Driving Licences on a UK national basis (possibly Provisional DL sooner). How will these fit with : l Local Government cards? l Smart passports (ICAO and introduced soon)? l ID Card (ICAO compliant but introduced 2009?)? l Other UK Govt smartcards- e.g. Smart Vehicle Registration Certificates, - plus a whole range of other applications that need clearance and ID? l Other countries - DL and ID? l Future technology projections? §Different pace of developments and own governance but need to decide soon
