Vulnerable Population In 2012 Hispanic ethnicity consisted of 9.2% of the population in Georgia The percent of Hispanic owned businesses in Georgia was 3.6% in 2007 Hispanics have a lower than average income of the U.S. population. The Hispanic house hold is larger. Sources: U.S. Census Bureau: State and County QuickFacts.

Housing Most of the homes in this particular area are mobile homes and duplexes. The houses are several years old. As you can see from the photos some of the mobile homes have boarded windows, with window air conditioning units.

Housing This is a photo of a duplex with window unit air conditioning units.

Commons This photo shows the gas station where people loiter, there are no playgrounds or parks in the area.

Transportati on The majority of the people in the community use public transportation, and they walk to the local stores.

Health and Social service agencies There is only physicians office in the community and a newly build pharmacy inside a drug store

Stores The stores in the community are small franchises. There are no major retailers in the community. There is a grocery store and a meat locker within a 1 mile radius. Food places include Domino’s, Hardees, and a locally owned seafood restaurant.

Homeless I did not notice any homeless individuals in the community, however there were several people loitering around stores and buildings.

Signs of decay and/or pollution The streets were fairly clean however there were signs of homes which had been torn down. The community had plenty of vacant lots.

Race There was a mixture of African American and Hispanic residents living in the community

Ethnicity The majority of the stores in the community are operated by Indian families. There is a variety of churches in the area to include Baptist, Methodist, and Hispanic.

Religion There were several churches in the community with different dominations. There was a Hispanic church, a Baptist church and a Methodist church within the community.

Health and morbidity The majority of the population looked fairly healthy Children were observed dressed inappropriately for outside i.e., babies were noted with out clothing or shoes, just a diaper.

Economics Most of the businesses are small franchises which pay minimum wage. The picture shown is a business which has closed. The space is now being used for loitering.

Protective Services There were no protective services in the surrounding area. However there is a police precept within a 20 mile radius of the community.

Schools There were 3 elementary schools in the area however, no middle schools or high schools. The structure of the schools were old. The community had one private school located within a church which taught grades K-5.

Media The community has campaign signs in various areas and there are television antennas throughout.

General There are no evidence of gangs in the area. There was a local club however it is now closed.

Problem Identification/Community Needs The community needs remodeling. The buildings and housing in the community are old and the structure is worn down. Most of the homes are privately owned and updating is difficult. Buildings are closed and boarded which makes a sore eye for the community.

Community Strengths There are several religious structures. The political signs are in place to encourage people to vote which could make an impact on the community. There was sufficient bus stops to assist with transportation. The community was fairly clean 2 childcare facilities were noted within the community
