NESHTA… is the “doing business as” name for the National Environmental Training Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational and professional membership association was founded in 1977 by community college wastewater operator training specialists, with help from the U.S. EPA Office of Water now includes members in all EHS training specialties.

NESHTA is the only international, educational and professional society for specialists who develop design deliver manage environmental, occupational safety and health, and related technical training.

NESHTA members subscribe to the belief that competent training is a cost- effective tool for… assuring worker safety and health protecting our environment achieving regulatory compliance.

NESHTA's mission is to promote and support trainer competency by helping develop their training knowledge and skills promoting professional certification developing and applying national and international training standards Providing continuing professional development and education.

Our mission includes supporting members and industry by… instructing new EHS trainers in the theory and practice of adult education developing and delivering continuing education encouraging the U.S. government, state and local entities to understand, promote and support competent EHS training.

For the benefits of those we train, our members accept the professional responsibility to continually improve their training knowledge and skills employ appropriate instructional technology in all training and education.

NESHTA developed of the Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer © (CET) professional credential, now owned by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). NESHTA is a sponsoring member of BCSP, and an advocate for voluntary professional credentials for training professionals in all fields.

NESHTA is a founder of and closely allied with the Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (PETE). Its new alliance with National PETE is a natural continuation and expansion of its important mission.
