Most job-hunters who fail to master the job- hunt or find their dream job, fail not because they lack information about the job market, but because they lack information about themselves. - Richard Nelson Bolles Let’s Self-Discover!

CURRENT EVENTS Who’s got one?

Early Conditioning What do you what to be when you grow up?

Self Efficacy Defined Refers to an individual’s belief that he or she is capable of performing a task.

Facts about Self-Efficacy LOW SELF EFFICACY: are more likely to lessen their effort or give up altogether Question whether or not they can complete a task HIGH SELF-EFFICACY Will try harder when faced with a challenge Will respond better to negative feedback with increased effort and motivation

Factors that affect self –efficacy, according to Bandura Experience – “Mastery experience” success fosters success, Modeling – vicarious modeling, becoming more confident because you see someone else doing the task Verbal persuasion- becoming more confident because someone convinces you that you have the skills necessary to be successful. (motivational speakers) Arousal – leads to an energized state, which drives a person to complete a task. However, arousal doesn’t always lead to better performance.
