Presentation transcript:

Natives, Explorers, and Settlers and how they interact with the environment By Preston Handel and Dylan Humphries

Natives V.S. the Environment The natives of Texas faced many problems. Drought could destroy crops and leave tribes without food or water. Natives also had to adapt to their surroundings. If there were less animals in the area, then they would rely on crops as a food source. If there was no place to farm, then the tribe would fish in order to obtain food. Explorers V.S. the Environment Explorers faced may hardships once they arrived at Texas. English explorer Captain Sir John Hawkins came to America with a whole crew, but only one crew member returned back to England. Explorers faced problems they had never faced, such as the natives. The natives did not appreciate the explorers, and made their point clear. Settlers V.S. the Environment Settlers came to America with the plan to stay. The first Spanish settlement was in Settlers faced the problem of building shelter that could stand the new environment. Settlers needed to find food and fresh water, and they had to protect themselves from the natives. The natives did not like the idea of these Europeans living with them. The settlers also had to be prepared for weather. If the weather was bad, their homes had to withstand anything.
