Social Services in Czech Republic David Urban

Social Services Since law of social services This law changed: –A) the method of payment for care –B) fined and characterized the basic social services –C) define the quality of social services

a) The method of payment for care Money were paid to the institutions (before new law) Now after the social investigation get the money the client, who can buy the social services directly from the organizations – home for seniors, home for people with disabilities ect. Positives: quality improvement, better position for a client (it's client, not a patient) Negatives: money will not be returned to the system, misuse of funds by some clients

Degree of dependance (€/mouth) Age I. LightII. MediumIII. HeavyIV. complete 0 – €240 €360 €480 € 18 and more 32 €160 €320 €480 €

b) Fined and characterized the basic social services Social services: Thanks social services is provided care of oneself, providing meals, accommodation, assistance in running a household, care and assistance with education, provision of information, mediating contact with the social environment, and psycho-social therapy, to promote the rights and interests.

b) Fined and characterized the basic social services The target of social services is to help to: - lead independent lives -return client's to their natural environment -reduce the social and health risks associated with the way of life of users Services are for all kinds of possible users (children, adults, seniors, ect.). Ambulant services (usually consulting) are for free. Residential services (home for seniors…) are paid.

b) Fined and characterized the basic social services Example: Home for seniors cost for a mouth 600 € (average pension is 420 €). - care benefit: 32 – 480 € - client must remain at least 10 % of his income as pocket money - rest money must be covered by the organization (founder)

c) Define the quality of social services Each registered organization has developed standards of service quality (15 standards) Client must be independent on the services - what he/she can do for yourself Social workers guarantee providing of social services – now discussion about new law of social workers (Association/Chamber of Social Workers) unprofessional organizations came to the end – they didn't receive registration

Conslusion Social services in Czech republic – evaluation is positive: if you need any social service, you can get it You can get social benefits for it: 32 – 480 €/mouth Negatives: system is difficult
