User-Defined Placeholder Text biomes!!!!! “ a place on earth that has the same climate, plant life and animal life over a vast area of land. Every place on earth is part of one biome or another” earthte, pland animal liarea of land

Desert Facts. or Hot and dry desert - Almost a (third/30%or 20%) of the land in the world is desert. The desert gets 10 percent of the rain that a rainforest gets! Fire, cold weather and sudden rain that causes flooding are common disasters in the dessert precipitation below 250 mil Polar desert - rainfall is less than 50 centimeters per year. 10 degrees Celsius in the warmest month. There is little sunlight for 9 or 10 months.

Kangaroo Rat The Kangaroo Rat is a mammal and lives in North America. It usually eats grass seeds and some times eats leaves. If it can find any the Kangaroo Rat will eat fruit. The Kangaroo Rat generally live in open areas and go out at night when it’s cool. Snakes birds and foxes are some predators. Usually wild Kangaroo Rats survive 1 season but can live 5 years. Kangaroo Rats can jump 1.3 feet 40 cm high and six feet 1.8 m.

Aquatic Without water, all life on earth would not be alive and the Earth would be a kiempty, desert. The aquatic biome the largest biome. It is 75% of the earths surface. The aquatic biome can be divided into two categories, freshwater and marie ( saltwater).

Marine Oceans and Estuaries The ocean is the biggest ecosystems on earth sea snails, octopuses, fish, crabs, lobsters, and sharks are some animals that live in the ocean. 70% of the earth is saltwater. About one cup of salt per gallon of water in the ocean. The deep sea holds 80% of all the habitats on earth, which makes it the biggest habitat on the earth.

Freshwate r ❖ Ponds and lakes have similar plants and animals but ponds dry up after a while. Ponds are seasonal, that mean they are made in rainy seasons and dry up after a few months. But lakes, usually survive for hundreds of years without drying up. rainy seasons ❖ Lake Baikal, in central Asia, is the biggest lake on Earth; it holds one fifth of the Earth’s freshwater ❖ Without freshwater biomes humans and animals would not be alive. ❖ The freshwater biome is important because it provide us with drinking water; energy and transportation. Professions, like freshwater fishermen and researchers.

Tundra The tundra is the coldest biome. It is about one 5th of the earths surface. The word tundra comes from a word that is Finnish, it means treeless plain. The tundra is in the arctic circle, the arctic circle is the circle that surrounds the north pole. In Antarctica, and other cold places, there are areas that can also be described as tundra. The summer sometimes lasts for only weeks. Polar bears, caribou, and arctic hares are some animals live in the tundra.

Grasslands Grassland biomes are large planes of well grass. one quarter of the earth is covered by grasslands. Trees have a hard time surviving in most grassland biomes because the ground is to dry. Savannas are grasslands scattered with individual trees. Savannas cover nearly half of Africa and large areas of Australia, South America and India. Australia Grass is basically the only thing that grows in Grasslands. Temperate grasslands are in South Africa, Hungary, Argentina, Uruguay and central North America

Taiga Taiga Russian for forest It stretches over Europe, Asia and North America. The Taiga is right underneath the tundra biome. Winters in the Taiga are cold and snowy. Summers on the other hand are warm, rainy, and humid. A lot of coniferous trees grow in the taiga. Coniferous trees are needle trees meaning the leafs are like needles. The taiga is known as a “boreal forest”. Boreal the Greek goddess of the North Wind?

1 Did you know that one mature tree can produce enough oxygen for a family of four for one year? oxygen 2.The oldest living thing on Earth is a bristlecone pine tree in Nevada. It is 4,700 years old, which means it was around when the Egyptians were building the pyramids! Egyptians pyramids 3.No rain fell in the Atacama desert in Chile for over 40 years! 4.The Saguaro Cactus only grows in the Sonoran Desert. It is a flowering plant, but it only blossoms once in its lifetime - which can be up to 200 years! Sonoran Desert blossoms RandomFactsRandomFacts
