How is credibility built? Formal diction The preface of the website provides the viewer with its position It is open to the viewer and is not forceful Informs the viewer that it is NOT a scientific study but rather a fact-based positional paper Warns about sexist and immoral stands Introduction presents the history of male and female roles in society

Cultural Differences are pointed out to establish general knowledge for a better understanding Cultures vary and in some cultures polygyny may be encouraged and not seen as promiscuous Monogamy Polygyny Either heterosexuality or homosexuality The Effects of Prohibition The Constitution protects the rights- designed mainly to be run by the people Prohibition from 1920 to 1933 of Alcohol Alcohol prices skyrocketed Bootlegging became an underground industry

Benefits of Legalization Money is spent on law enforcement efforts to catch prostitutes and their customers Prevent the abuse of and black market buy and sell of women Health-Safety Issues Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like syphilis, gonorrhea, Chlamydia and herpes will be monitored to prevent the spread of these afflictions Control of HIV/AIDS

Crime

Resources References from books, websites, etc. Cited all throughout the website…ex. (Google, 2003) Personal essay makes it less credible

How is logic used? Data and Chats provide valid information that is not only local Not aimed for a specific group of people Many of the pages do not open or work Logical Fallacies Does not present the two sides of argument or challenges prohibition Personal opinion packed with bias points of view Focuses on decreasing crime, violence, etc. but not on eliminating it through legalization

tells us where they got each article and who wrote it copyright date credible source A LOT OF READING a lot of pictures there is a visual images link that one can click on, also a videos link When you first click on a link on the left-hand side it brings up more links and articles that one can read on the topic of prostitution and that sub-idea Has an article on myths and facts about legalized prostitution Talks about Canada and Sweden’s laws, San Fran and New Zealand too

there are some pictures that don’t really make sense, depends on what link you click on Valid points yet some articles did not make sense Presents real life situation; such as buying and selling of prostitutes in Israel Does not have a clear solution to these problems

Neutrality Does not present or support a specific view, but rather presents facts Does not have a strong opinion Pros: very organized, a lot of different information, not only US laws Cons: a lot of reading, very bland

The website is a neutral website and does not choose either side of the argument towards prostitution. Should prostitution be legalized or not is the debate are group researched. The UFI website is a website that doesn’t really want to lead you in a certain direction it is meant to give you all the information on the topic to let you gain knowledge on the prostitution debate.

They website is a big database that covers a lot of topics. It also has a lot of facts and statistic witch makes the website credible and a reliable source They are not really making an argument on the website or being bias they show you a bunch of articles and facts and statics for you to look at and to come to your own conclusion They don’t really have a diction because they are pulling from other sources they mainly want to give you all the information that’s out there so you see what’s going on with the topic and to let learn about it. The give articles for and against to let you know what both sides are saying

Its is a very dull website all white and really boring. The viewer would not find this website very appealing because it is more sophisticated and lays facts and texts but no pictures or colors so unless your researching the topic you really wouldn’t find the website interesting

the website is straight to the point of letting you know what the current info out there on there on the topic. It’s a logical website because they give you facts to make there points valid. It would appeal to ones reasoning if they are looking into prostitution or a blog topic but if they weren’t they wouldn’t be very interested in the site. It is also hard to find the prostitution page from the home page because the website is really big and it covers a lot of topics witch makes it credible

Pros- the website is a blog so you can get a lot of information and it is not all for the same side of the topic. Also most of the information of articles and facts are coming from reliable sources and are not persuaded to one side of the argument so you can be left open minded Cons- the website is really plain and boring, not really much going on. Plus the website doesn’t help you choose a side so if that’s what you where looking for you could still come up empty handed.

1. Based on the information given on the website, do you think that these are valid points for legalizing prostitution? Why or why not? What could have been done better? 2. How does the website’s visual help you understand what the article is trying to achieve 3. Do you feel a non-bias website is more credible than a bias website?
