Figures of Speech: The art of playing with language. Unit Portfolio Presentation Cicelle Monteros and Paulo Fabrigar

Unit Summary In this 21st century where communication plays a vital role in nation building, it is good for someone to know the basics of the figurative language.

It is an art that is most likely to be misunderstood by others because it is unusually absent in a common conversation. Through this, the students will be able to express their thoughts creatively, fluently, and effectively.

CFQs Essential Question How does the figure of speech show the values of humility, creativity, and cheerfulness? How can we promote peace in the interpersonal and social means with the use of effective communication? Unit Question How can we apply figures of speech in our daily lives while applying the necessary values?

Content Questions Is it possible to make use of the different figures of speech in communication? How can we integrate figures of speech in daily communication? What are the learning and insight we can get from using figures of speech?

Vision for Unit Upon planning of this unit plan, we want to: Use new methods and strategies in teaching while integrating modern means of technology. Build an effective medium of communication that promote a mutual understanding to everyone. Come up with a very excellent learning experience for the students.

During this unit, we want our students to: Differentiate and summarize the different figurative speeches in English language. Apply the different figures of speech in creating poems Dramatize an original dialogue for the role-playing activity.

Project Approaches As our students work on this project, they Will appreciate the relevance of the figurative speech in human communication. Work into groups and learn to cooperate. Share their literary works to their peers.

21 st Century Learning Students will develop higher-order and 21 st century skills in this unit as they Acquisition of Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skills Effective Communication and Excellent Interpersonal skills Collaboration among learners Initiative and Self-Direction

Gauging Student Needs Assessments Use CFQs to learn Prior knowledge on literature, grammar and poetry. Idea on dialogue and conversation Assess 21st Century skills Ability to identify figurative speeches and to create an original and creative literary output.

Gauging Student Needs Assessments I can use the information from these assessments to: Clarify the perceived ideas of the students toward the topic Design new activities and develop existing teaching strategies. Students can use the information from these assessments to: Integrate their learning from other fields and articulate their ideas in a creative manner. Set their personal standards on their intellectual, aesthetic, and social development.
