–Located within the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida –Established 2003 –Offers practical experiences both in and out of the classroom –Promotes successful entrepreneurship –Ranked in top 20 nationally by Entrepreneurship magazine and Princeton Review

Goal –Provide select MBA students with immersive entrepreneurial experience Program Details –Focus on early stages of entrepreneurial start up –Hands on practica with designated partners for credit hours –Supervision by a member of Crummer faculty –Competitive selection process –ESD carries significant prestige and recognition for students selected

–KSC discussed approaching a local business school after seeing presentation at FLC Annual Meeting –Contacted Rollins College President –Met with Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship and discussed a NASA commercialization planning program –Space Act Agreement to proceed with program in the 2012 fall semester –Worked with mentor professor and a NASA patented technology from the KSC portfolio

NASA –Provide information on patented technologies –Brief students and professors on technologies –Answer follow-up questions throughout the term Rollins College –Professor will choose one technology per term –Students and professor will meet with innovator –Students will research markets and develop commercialization plan –Present the final plan to NASA at end of term

Inductive Linear Non-contact Position Sensor –Originally developed to monitor precise movements of Orbiter windows inspection system –High accuracy and resolution of positions for motion control applications –Small, inexpensive and provides absolute position –Can measure position down to 400 nanometers over a total range of 200 microns

KSC Commercialization Efforts –Assessment for commercial potential positive –Positive feedback from industry experts (sensor manufacturers) –Filed non-provisional patent and marketed technology to industry –Pursued license with a sensor manufacturer identified in KSC’s commercial assessment over the course of one year –Due to changes in budget company dropped interest –Considered a good candidate for the Rollins program.

Four Rollins MBA Students –Business experience and real-world engineering know-how –Knowledge of robotics and manufacturing –Market research reveals opportunities in many fields Medical robotics 3D Printers Missile guidance Military applications –Worked with NASA innovator to enhance capabilities of sensor (3D applications) –Decided to form Juntura Group and apply for a license –Developed prototype packages for potential manufacturers

–Company name derived from Spanish word that means “juncture” –Incorporated in 2012 with headquarters in Winter Park, FL –Currently developing three variations of non-contact position sensors for its product line –Company already has made a commercial sale of its product Florida Institute of Technology is incorporating the sensor into a 3D bioplotter that prints human tissue

Post License Project –Fall Semester 2014 –Work directly with licensee start-up –Review marketing materials –Research alternative markets –Present to Tech Transfer Team and Licensee
