Integration of Data for Improved Reservoir Management André Strupstad NTNU, Classification: Internal

Integration of Data for Improved Reservoir Management. 1.Study and search for information about reservoir management. 2.Describe the input data needed for a good reservoir management. In addition discuss how the data are obtained, the cost of obtaining the data, the benefit of the data and the potential environmental impacts of gathering the data? 3.The input data is typically used in reservoir simulations models. Describe what a reservoir simulations model is. Describe witch data types are straight forward to use and which are complex to implement? 4.What are the typical uncertainties of the different input data and how will these influence the quality of the reservoir management? Classification: Internal

Task 1 1.Study and search for information about reservoir management. Focus on Heidrun type of Field. −Offshore −Oil/gas −Large field Classification: Internal

Task 2 2.Describe the input data needed for a good reservoir management. In addition discuss how the data are obtained, the cost of obtaining the data, the benefit of the data and the potential environmental impacts of gathering the data? Input data: Production rate [Sm3/d]; oil, gas, water Obtained: −Test Separator Performance curves (Choke or WHP curves) −Multiphase flow meters (MPFM) −In addition you need updated PVT −Field allocation Classification: Internal

Task 2 cont. 2.Describe the input data needed for a good reservoir management. In addition discuss how the data are obtained, the cost of obtaining the data, the benefit of the data and the potential environmental impacts of gathering the data? Cost: −Need a test separator (which is used for a large variety of operations...) −MPFM (5 -10 MNOK per topside flowmeter) Benefit −Amount of drainage from the reservoir − Environmental impacts: −None Classification: Internal

Task 3. 3.The input data is typically used in reservoir simulations models. Describe what a reservoir simulations model is. Describe witch data types are straight forward to use and which are complex to implement? Reservoir simulations model? Production rates [Sm3/d]; oil, gas, water −Rather straight forward to history match towards but the uncertainty in the rate can be rather big as it’s a function of allocation. −The underlying contribution of reservoir zones might be completely wrong. To history match that you might want to use PLT data, but you will only have a few points in time making it hard to history match against. In addition, this is a very time consuming task Classification: Internal

Task 4. 4.What are the typical uncertainties of the different input data and how will these influence the quality of the reservoir management? Uncertainties in MPFM rates? Uncertainties in TS rates? Uncertainties due to Allocation? Classification: Internal

General suggestions When possible focus your work on Heidrun or Heidrun like fields Use Project A as the introduction to Heidrun and the B-Projects Classification: Internal
