The Arctic Fox By Shelby Hymbaugh

General Information The fox is a mammal. The scientific name is Alopex Lagopus. It lives up to 15 years.

Physical Characteristics The color of my animal is white. It weighs 6-8 pounds, and about 28 inches long. My animal has fur. The tail is the most unique because when the fox sleeps it wraps its tail around it to keep warm.

Habitat The fox lives in the Polar Regions in North America. It is close to the North Poles. It is cold and gets up to -94 degrees.

Behaviors The animal eats seal pups. The fox sniffs, digs, overpowers, and gets it. It gives birth to live young. The fox can have up to 20 babies.

Interesting facts It migrates North. Some of the dens have been used for decades. They also eat fish.
