Presentation transcript:

This presentation shows all the former and present activities of the Cummer Valley’s environmental club: > butterfly garden > Walk to school day > The three R’s > Cummer Valley’s tree > The environmental club

Our order for the butterfly garden had been sent to Toyota-Every where green on January 2001 and the grant was given to us in February Now we are waiting for them to dig out the path in Spring. It will be located in the Northwest corner of the school. Butterfly garden is made up of especial trees, flowers and different kind of plants which will attract butterflies.

October 2000 was our first walk to school even. On 2000/2001 student walked to school once a month. Normally 27% of Cummer’s student walk which is much lower than Toronto’s average of 70%. This year we walk every Tuesday. “walking” means not using motorized transportation. Each week the golden shoe award goes to the class with highest presentation of walking. Walking to school is fun

In Cummer we recycle paper, juice boxes, pop cans and bottles. We also recycle printers Ink Cartridges and batteries we send them back to the company so they can reuse them. We also have a composter that we compost food with it. Each week we give the environmental trophy to the class that has done some thing environmentally friendly such as recycling all the test papers and...

Something we are proud of is the tree that we planet. We planet a tree on October, 10, The money was from City of Toronto’s Cool School’s Grant which was $2000. The tree cost $800. The rest of money used to pay for Awards composter and...

If you are interested in the different activities that we do, join us in the environmental Club. New members are always welcomed. To join us you just need to come each week on Tuesday after school to room 109. See you there!!
