Mesopotamia  “The Land Between the Rivers”  Tigris & Euphrates Rivers  Thought to be the location of the Garden of Eden.  Located in Modern Day Iraq  Land was fertile, and produce an surplus of food.

Assignment Part 1: Problems  Identify the issues that Sumerians faced with living in Mesopotamia Solutions  Explain the solutions that the Sumerians came up with to solve their issues. Hint: Sec 1 – Page 29 & 30

City-States  Functioned as independent country  Cities were surrounded by fields of barley and wheat  Priest and Rulers controlled the city-states  Sometimes they were military led.
