Social Media Power to the People PLEASE ASK YOURSELF: Why What How

Social Media Each club – what social media do you use, & what made you choose it? What purpose do you find it best serves? Is there anything you would NOT use social media for?

Social Media Hints, Tips, Ideas Give something / a reason to your users – why should they use your sites? Plan your use. What media do your members/potential members use? What is new/upcoming? What works for your club? Tie together all your online media use. Cross promote. Make your brand “social” not just talking at, but talking with. Establish what you want to achieve from using social media Engage your members / friends / groups. Involve them. Schedule things like tweets (futuretweets.com) so you don’t need to consider doing them daily. (Match reminders, events etc.) Social media isn’t always positive. Use this as an opportunity to relate and solve a problem.

Other Online Content & Uses? E-Newsletters QR Codes (Quick Response) Paypal Flickr / Picasa etc. YouTube Uni Games FB Page Uni Games Registration

Websites Needs to be functional – suiting YOUR needs. Can be free, or paid for. Is the potential cost outweighed by the benefit of having “YOUR” own site? Who has the time to manage – often volunteers who don’t have time “at” your club as they can do something like this from work / home. E-Commerce & Paypal? Fees, fundraising etc. Where can you get “free” club websites? What are some essential elements of a website for your club?
