Presentation transcript:

“Tagged” Before tagging starts dragging you down, use these valuable pointers to ensure you don’t become a victim.

 Do’s  Make use of privacy settings on the various forms of social media

 Have a reasonable profile picture

 Be mindful of who you tag in photos  Share important news with friends or family first before posting it on social media

Break up with someone or have a public argument with someone on Social Media

 Post embarrassing/ suggestive/ explicit/ nude pictures of yourself or anyone else

 Post information that can be used against you  Post anything too personal on someone’s wall  Friend someone you don’t know in real life  Post anything which may hurt a friend’s relationship or career

 Bullying  Psychological Impact (depression etc)  Tarnished reputation

 Negative emotions – anger, hurt, frustration  Legal Implications – Child pornography, harassment, deformation of character

 Knowledge is power! Gain knowledge about privacy settings and how to use them.

 Accept invites from family members so that they can help monitor your social media involvement

 Think before you ink BUT think MOST before you POST! Don’t update statuses when angry or overly emotional – THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES

 Report anything you feel uncomfortable with immediately!

 APPLY THE SAME COURTESY, RESPECT AND DECORUM YOU WOULD IN REAL LIFE
