EXTENSION CORD WITH END CUT OFF AND WIRE END STRIPPED. COST $1.00 AT DOLLAR STORE. 100W 120V BULB AND FIXTURE.

WIRE WITH BOTH ENDS STRIPPED. WIRES ATTACHED TO STICK TO PREVENT ENDS FROM TOUCHING. FORMS AN OPEN CIRCUIT.

COMPLETE CIRCUIT DEMONSTRATING CONDUCTIVITY. SALT HAS NOT YET BEEN ADDED

THE CORD HAS TWO COPPER CONDUCTORS ATTACHED AT THE END. IT MAKES STABBING THE PICKLE EASIER. THE PICKLE LIGHTS UP AS IT IS BEING ELECTROCUTED. THIS PRODUCES A BIT OF AN ODOR.

LIGHT EXPERIMENT CAN BE DONE WITH 12V INSTEAD OF 120V. IT IS MUCH SAFER. THE BULBWAS BOUGHT AT A DOLLAR STORE. THE INSTRUMENT IS A BATTERY CHARGER. A CAR BATTERY CAN ALSO BE USED. 12V IS PROBABLY NOT ENOUGH TO ELECTROCUTE THE PICKLE.

THE DIGITAL OHMETER I USED INSTEAD OF THE CONDUCTION PROBE. THE TWO PROBES AT THE END ARE TAPED TOGETHER TO KEEP THE SEPERATION DISTANCE CONSTANT.

SETUP USING THE PROBE CONNECTED TO A TI83. JUST FOLLOW DIRECTIONS IN THE MANUAL. PIECE OF CAKE Circuit Schematic

A saline solution was prepared. Instead of adding salt to our apparatus, spoons of the saline solution were added. This was more accurate and less stirring was needed to get a uniform solution. Water was at room temperature and an insulated cup was used to minimize any temperature changes.
