The Bible Not a Book to Ignore 2  Consider its claims...  The Word of God  A Revelation from the Almighty Creator  The key to the mysteries of the universe  The divine guide for our lives  The plan of salvation from sin  Consider one man’s opinion of the Bible.

What Christ Thought… 3  He regarded the Scriptures as inspired.  From “the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4)  Every “jot and tittle” (Matthew 5:17–18)  Even the tenses (Luke 20:37–38)  He believed in their plenary and verbal inspiration (I Timothy 3:16; Matthew 10:20; Luke 12:11–12; Mark 13:11).

What Christ Thought… 4  He accepted all the Bible as true–  The Creation account (Matthew 19:4–6)  The murder of Abel (Matthew 23:35)  The Flood narrative (Matthew 24:37–38)  The origin of Israel (Matthew 22:32, 43)  Sodom (Luke 17:32; Matthew 11:23)  The Authorship of the Law (Matthew 19:8)

What Christ Thought… 5  He accepted all the Bible as true–  The glory of Solomon (Luke 11:31; 12:27)  Elijah & Elisha (Luke 4:25–27)  Jonah & the Great Fish (Matthew 12:38–41)  The integrity of Daniel (Matthew 24:15)  The authority of the prophets (Luke 16:31)

What Christ Thought… 6  He revered Scripture as authoritative.  The Sermon on the Mt. (Matthew 5:18–19)  The Sabbath question (Matthew 12:3, 5)  The divorce question (Matthew 19:4, 8)  Concerning eternal life (Luke 10:26)  Concerning the resurrection (Mark 12:26)  His conviction was certain (John 10:35).

What Christ Thought… 7  He relied upon the Word in trials.  While tested (Matthew 19:3)  When tempted (Matthew 4:1–11)  In suffering (Hebrews 5:8–9; I Peter 2:19–23)  As He was dying (Matthew 27:39–50; Acts 2:26; Hebrews 2:13)  Jesus completely relied upon the Words of God (John 4:34; 6:38; 19:30).

What Christ Thought… 8  Jesus was convicted…  The Scriptures were inspired.  The Scriptures were thoroughly true.  The Scriptures were absolutely authoritative.  The Scriptures could be trusted and relied upon.  What do you think of the Scriptures?
