Widex Super: the Smallest Power Hearing Aid Available

Widex recently introduced Super 440 and Super 220, the smallest hearing aids available for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss.

Until now, traditional behind- the-ear devices were the best treatment for this degree of impairment, but they were big and bulky because the large, powerful receiver which delivered sound to the ear was housed in the BTE itself.

The new class, known as receiver-in-the-canal (RIC), delivers the power necessary by separating the receiver from the case of the device and placing it into the ear mold which fits into the ear canal.

Noise Reduction and Feedback cancellation attenuate unwanted noise while IE Speech Enhancer (Super 440 only) improves speech signals in background noise. HD Locator is available in both models for better speech understanding in noise.

Perhaps the most unique feature is Zen, music which provides relief from tinnitus (ear ringing). Zen plays random chime-like tones that are programmed based on your listening preference.

These instruments have flexibility to accommodate a variety of listening environments as they can be set for a minimum of three programs to fit your listening needs.

Both are wireless and can be synchronized so that a change in volume or program on one device will automatically change the other. Other advantages of wireless include the use of the DEX connectivity for better understanding of your favorite television shows and for improved listening on mobile phones.
