On Wednesday the 24 th of September 2014 an S4/5/6 group of pupils who currently study music in the school were invited to perform at Castle Fraser for our 5 th annual Evening of Music. The pupils who performed were; Alastair Fyfe, Jordan Ramsey, Rhianne Ross, Rachel Gray, Gaby Cortes, Ben Armstrong, Emma Thompson, Harrison Mowat, Iola Skinner, Iona Proud, Sophie Drysdale, Kirsty Smith and myself. There was a wide range of instruments played on the night, including Flute, Violin, Piano, Clarinet and Voice. The evening was a great opportunity for pupils to showcase their talents in front of an audience consisting of Family and staff members. The performances took place in the Great Hall which gave a wonderful atmosphere to play in and with the bagpipes to lead us in and the wonderful buffet afterwards in the dining room it truly was a memorable night. The evening was a huge success and everyone performed to an exceptionally high standard. All the musicians felt very proud to represent Inverurie Academy and showcase some of our amazing talent, at such a grand location. Beth Strachan 6S

Kirsty is in S6 and is studying Advanced Higher Music. Tonight she will be performing on flute but she also plays tenor sax. She is a member of the Orchestra, Italy 2015 Choir, the Chromatics and Celtacad. Iona is in S6 and is studying Advanced Higher Music. She is an accomplished all round musician and plays Flute, Piano and Violin to a high standard. She is taught in school by Ms Cook and Mrs Tierney. Tonight she is going to play Violin and Piano. Iona plays in Celtacad, Concert Band and is a leader of The Orchestra She also accompanies the Italy 2015 Choir. She is the winner of the Higher Music Prize. During the week she assists with one of the St Andrews School Music classes and an S1 Music Class. Beth is in S6 and is studying Advanced Higher Music. She is an accomplished pianist and flute player. She is taught flute in school by Ms. Cook. Beth is a member of The Orchestra, Italy 2015 Choir and the Concert Band. Beth also teaches Piano. Tonight she is playing piano and flute. She assists with S1 music classes throughout the week. Alastair is in S5 and is studying Higher Music. He is an accomplished musician and plays violin and piano. He is the winner of the National 5 Music Prize. He is a member of Celtacad and is playing a selection of fiddle music tonight. Rhianne is in S5 and is studying Higher Music. She is an accomplished piano player and also plays clarinet. Tonight she is performing on the piano and clarinet. Gaby is in S6 and is studying crash Higher Music. She is a flautist and saxophonist. She is a member of the Chromatics, Concert Band, Orchestra, Italy 2105 choir and assists with an S1 Music class during the week. Jordan is in S5 and is studying Higher Music. She is taught Xylophone in school by Mr Jones and is a singer. She is a member of the Italy 2015 Choir. Tonight she is playing the Xylophone. Iola is in S4 and is studying National 5 Music. She is taught clarinet in school by Ms Cook and is also a pianist. She is a member of the Concert Band. Tonight she is performing on piano. Harrison is in S4 and plays piano and guitar. He is taught guitar in school by Mr Kellock and is studying National 5 Music. He is a member of the Guitar Ensemble. Tonight he is playing both piano and guitar.

Emma is in S6 and is studying crash Higher Music. She is taught clarinet in school by Ms Cook and is also a singer. She is a member of the Concert Band, the Chromatics and Italy 2015 Choir. Tonight she is playing clarinet and singing. Sophie is in S6 and is a valued member of the Music Department. She is a singer and is taught fiddle in school by Mrs Tierney. She is a member of Orchestra, Celtacad, Italy 2015 Choir and The Chromatics. Tonight she is playing in a fiddle trio with Iona and Alastair and also accompanying herself singing on guitar. Ben is in S4 and is studying National 5 Music. He plays piano and alto saxophone. He is a member of the Orchestra and tonight he is playing alto sax. Rachel is in S4 and is studying National 5 Music. She is taught ‘cello in school by Mr Matheson and is also a singer. She is a member of The Orchestra, Celtacad, Italy 2015 Choir, Singers and The Chromatics. Tonight she is playing ‘cello and singing.
