Choosing Music for Year 9 & 10? Anyone interested in music and willing to give the subject a try can do well in this course. It just takes practice! It is NOT a course for easy marks. It rewards those who work hard and contribute to class discussions. The more students contribute, the more rewarding the course will be.

What will Year 10 get to do? Continue to develop skills in… Performing Listening Composing By studying different musical styles! Using Finale. Finale is a music software program for writing music. By composing with it you will develop your ICT skills. You can type the music in or play music in through the keyboard and it will be notated on the screen.

What do you do for performance? Choose one instrument that you will practice regularly at home & use often in class…this could be your voice! Play keyboard and guitar pieces as a class. Play pieces as a class ensemble. Play percussion instruments. Learn to use microphones & a PA system. Showcase songs you have been working on in your own time.

Frequently Asked Questions…  Do you have to be naturally gifted at music to do well? No…you just have to be prepared to work at it.  Do you have to know how to play an instrument before joining the class? No…you can learn and practice on the way! ☻
