Product Title: Can I live in Your Home? A story about animal habitats Age range of intended audiences: 4 yrs. to 7 yrs. old Product goals and objectives: - To teach vocabulary related to animals and their habitats. -To teach the question form Can I …? Abstract: The following story was designed for a kindergarten class (5-6 yrs.) of deaf students. It is a story about a little ant who is lost and cannot find her home. So she meets various animals and asks them if she can live in their house. The animals tell her that she cannot live in their house, because it is not a house where ants live. Finally the ant meets other ants and they let her stay in their house. The students relied a lot on visual aids and pictures for comprehension. This story, since it was in the form of a power-point presentation appealed to the students. The visual component of the story also made it very easy to comprehend the story. As a follow up to the story, various picture matching and work matching games were played. The students acted out the whole story. They also made a book of animals habitats, using the pictures provided at the end of the story and wrote sentences about each animal.

Then she walked some more. She saw a spider. The ant asked, can I live in your house? I am lost. The spider said, oh no little ant, you cannot live here. This is a web. Spiders live on webs.

The ant was still walking. She was very tired now. Then she saw a fish in the water. The ant asked, can I live in your house? I am lost. The fish answered, Oh no little ant, you cannot live with me. Fish live in water.
