Emblem The creator of the emblem is Bistryakov Nikolai Petrovich. The description : the shield is divided into two parts: blue and yellow. On the upper part there are northern lights and a ship. In the lower part there is a blue fish. The ship and the northern lights symbolize the prevailing professions in the city- sailors and fishmen. The blue colour symbolizes the sea and the polar night, their beauty and greatness. Yellow symbolizes the richness of seas and soil, the polar day. The northern lights put emphasis on geographical position of the city.
