Her life She helped to finish the second Liberian civil war in 2003. She helped women to get power so that they can have equality in life with a man. she became the first female president in Africa. She was awarded the 2011 Nobel peace prize.

Background/Issue The first Liberian civil war broke out in 1989 and lasted until 1997. Lots of men were dragged out in the war and 20 thousand people were killed.

The second Liberian civil war began in 1999 and ended in 2003 The second Liberian civil war began in 1999 and ended in 2003. Eventually, through this war, more than 250 thousand people died and nearly 1 million people became victims.

How she involve in the issue? She trained about Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Program(THRP) that help for people who have trauma by a war. She felt other’s pain and sorrow, then she decided to change the world.

How she solve this problem? Leymah Gbowee met the President in Liberia, Charles Taylor directly, and she forced him to try to make a peace. Charles Taylor

she insisted that refuse sex with husband who was join in civil war, to make them abandon weapons. She led a demonstration. Lots of women supposed it and wearing white T-shirts, every day.

These affects brought peace to people When there was a civil war negotiation in Ghana, she led the Liberian women and pushed on attendee until they negotiated.
