Profile, role and activities of the CIHEAM - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari BIG project Roberta Trevisi

Mission MAIB fosters the spirit of international cooperation among agricultural stakeholders in Mediterranean countries. MAIB promotes important partnerships in the Mediterranean region aimed at upgrading and developing the agricultural sector and protecting the environment with a view to progressively spreading sustainable agriculture. 630 students in Institutional Courses, 200 professors in educational activities, 28 PhD students carrying out joint research activities, 8 new distance learning courses, 100 professional courses involving 1200 trainees. 1 patent, 400 scientific works of which 20 books, 150 research publications in international journals. 200 Institutions from more than 40 Countries involved in 140 research, cooperation and technical assistance projects. MAIB fosters 3 objectives : Education, Research and Cooperation

It’s a marine outpost It is a settlement built in the frontier territories to carry out research or analysis in hard to reach areas. It is a center of lookout, monitoring and defense of the coast, and especially that wonderful element that we call the Sea. It’s a workplace It’s open To researchers and curious Mediterranean outpost for monitoring coastal and marine ecosystems
