ROMA2 Initiative Institute of Food Bioresources (IBA) has taken the initiative to build the National Food Technology Platform: Institute of Food Bioresources is a public food research institute, belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture; National Authority of Scientific Research (ANCS) coordinates the organization of all the national platforms.
ROMA3 Activities… Dissemination: Information about ETP ”Food for Life” and Romanian initiative: - over 200 s - over 70 faxes - over 60 phones - 40 regular mails.
ROMA4 Activities… -5 th February – meeting with ANCS representatives -14 th February – presentation of the platform initiative to Food Industry Federation - ROMALIMENTA -9 th March – meeting with industry (ROMALIMENTA and only several industry representatives) -12 th March – meeting with all stakeholders and ANCS
ROMA5 Activities…. Lobby: -to the Ministry of Agriculture (meeting in January with representatives of research department ) -to the Ministry of Health.
ROMA6 Results -increasing of stakeholders number for platform working groups -scientific community very well represented (14 universities and 10 research institutes) -high support from the National Association for Consumer Protection (non-governmental association)
ROMA7 Results Establishing of: -Chairman – Food Industry Federation Romalimenta -Secretariat – Institute of Food Bioresources (Adriana Macri)
ROMA8 PROBLEMS Reduced participation of the industry ▪ involved: - Romanian Food Industry Federation - Milling and Baking Industry Association - 3 large companies ▪ no one SME or multinational company
ROMA9 We need to get help, advices from the existing platforms: -methods, strategies to involve more industry -increasing the dialog with governmental institutions -financial items.
