Part 5: HOW DOES FAITH AFFECT MY RELATIONSHIPS?

Your Family

Prioritize the Word of God within the context of your family.

…..Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law. 47 For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life……” Deuteronomy 32:45-47 (NASB)

Prioritize the Word of God within the context of your family. Make the spiritual growth of your family a priority.

In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, 8 sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us. Titus 2:7-8 (NASB)

6 Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 (NASB)

Prioritize the Word of God within the context of your family. Make the spiritual growth of your family a priority. Include God in your family decisions.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 (NASB; NLT) Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Your Friends

Be loyal to your friends.

Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, for we have sworn friendship with each other in the name of the LORD, saying, ‘The LORD is witness between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever.’” 1 Samuel 20:42 (NIV)

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17 (NASB)

Be loyal to your friends. Express mutual love and support.

Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. 10 For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. 11 Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone? 12 And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NASB)

Be loyal to your friends. Express mutual love and support. Believe the best in each other.

Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Philippians 2:1-2 (NASB)

3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4 (NASB)

Your Enemies

Decide you want to love them.

“…choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, Deuteronomy 30:19,20 (NASB)

“You have heard that it was said, ' You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. ' 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 5:43-44 (NASB)

Decide you want to love them. Pray for your enemies, not against them.

“Prayer is the forerunner of mercy.” ~ C.H. Spurgeon “Prayer is the forerunner of mercy.” ~ C.H. Spurgeon

Decide you want to love them. Pray for your enemies, not against them. Remember: If they matter to Jesus they matter to me.

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45 (NASB)

“If they matter to Jesus, they matter to me.”
