San Juan is a province in a mountainous region without too much vegetation but with fertile oasis, snowmelt rivers, mountains, mining and paleontological sites. Its main economic activities are viticulture and olive growing and the industry is dedicated to the wine production; being the second largest producer in Argentina and South America San Juan is located in the Cuyo region, to the west of Argentina; it is one of the most tourist provinces of Argentina, thanks to what is called the "Land of the Sun" and a lovely landscape of mountains, rivers and a variety of flora and fauna Furthermore, there are various civic festivities honoring diverse activities; for example, the “Fiesta Nacional del Sol” which is held annually with parades and diverse artistic performances, the “Fiesta Nacional del Vino y la Uva” in Caucete, the “Fiesta de Santa Lucía”, in the town of the same name, the “Fiesta de la Tradición Jachallera” in San José de Jáchal, or the “Día del Folklore Cuyano” in Medano de Oro Rawson.
In 1944 there was an earthquake that destroyed the Cathedral and the province. Cathedral of San Juan is a modern Cathedral that was built in 1979 because that earthquake.
Ullum is one of the most visited places in San Juan because of the beautiful countryside and the vine and fruit production Ullum is a place in the center of San Juan, in the center south of the province, dominated by a landscape of hills and some vegetation. Ullum is a place with 90% of the territory unoccupied however it have a lot of production of wine and olives.
San Juan is a place among mountains... for years no one expected anything and simply forgot it... but among mountains nature grew... to create a varied climate from glaciers to deserts...
If you visit Pocito you will find a town that has a surface of 515 km2, it has mountains and plains. More than 50,000 people live in Pocito. The area has agricultural activities, predominantly production of wine and fruits. Pocito is an important Argentinian wine production area. Pocito is known for being part of the wine roads of San Juan and for having an outstanding rural tourism in the province.
If you ask me why this is my place in the world, with our heads high we'll answer…why San Juan? Because in San Juan you can learn that you can be happy no matter what problems you have to face, that nothing is impossible, that if you want it you can get it, that your dreams may come true!
