Presentation transcript:

 Silently read page 48. If you finish, read it again.

 You will learn what information a climagraph contains.  You will describe an area’s climate using a climagraph.  You will construct a climagraph from given data.

 A climate graph combines a line graph with a bar graph to give information about an area’s climate.  The line graph shows average monthly temperature.  The bar graph shows how much precipitation an area receives in one month.

 The left hand y-axis shows us temperature, and is used with the line graph.  The right hand y-axis shows us inches of precipitation, and is used with the bar graph.  The x-axis is labeled with the months of the year.

 What month has the highest average temperature?  What month has the lowest average temperature?  Describe the overall temperature pattern in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

 Look at the “North and South America: Political” map on page 534.  Locate Sao Paulo  How does the city’s location explain its temperature pattern?

 Sao Paulo is located near the ocean.  Coastal locations often have mild temperatures that don’t fluctuate seasonally

 What month receives the most rainfall?  What month receive the least rainfall?

 Complete #1-6 of the practice sheet- use a sheet of paper.  You have 6 minutes, then we will discuss.

 What climate zone is this location probably in?  How do you know?  What would a climagraph from polar region look like?

 We will create a climagraph for Charleston, South Carolina.  We will use the data on page 49.  You need to follow my directions carefully.
