To connect to the internet, you have to ‘go online’. To get online you’ll need the following: A computer A broadband modem / router A phone line A broadband internet service from an ISP (Internet Service Provider)

This shows the unique web address of each web page you visit. Type a web address here, then press ‘Return’ to go to that page. Forward and Back buttons. Some websites use this to pretend to be the ‘real’ site, but are there for other reasons. This might be to spread a computer virus, or to show unsuitable content. You move from one web page to the next by clicking on web links. Your cursor will change from an arrow to a hand when it’s on a web link. Web links can be text, buttons, or even photos. Beginner
