The establishment of a strategy on mental health at EU-level would add value by:  Creating a framework for exchange and Cooperation between Member States  Helping to increase the coherence of actions in different policy sectors  To open up a platform for involving stakeholders including patient and civil society organizations into building solutions EU Mental Health Strategy

The Commission proposes that an EU-strategy should focus on the following aspects :  Promote the mental health of all  Address mental ill health through preventive action  Improve the quality of life of people with mental ill health or disability through social inclusion and the protection of their rights and dignity; and  Develop a mental health information, research and knowledge system for the EU. Proposals For European Planning 2013 – 20  A exploration of the various models of treatment across a section of EU countries.  Research investigating diagnosis specific treatment models that have proved to be effective taking into account patient experience, carers and professionals.  Exploring the development of an integrative approach towards the treatment of mental health and other associated disorders in which social and health care models can be integrated in more efficiently.
