 Indian professor friend arranged lectures at 10 Indian universities  Had time to be a tourist  Stayed in university housing, at professor’s home, or at her relatives’ homes  Experienced local culture

 French computer professor visited NKU  He arranged for me to visit his department in Caen, Normandy and for free housing  Worked on the security of cell phone transactions

 Two Romanian professors in my department  Visited their former University  Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania

 G. Michael Snyder, On the Other Guy’s Dime  Relates his experience visiting Israel, England, Turkey, Nepal, Mongolia, …  Getting it paid for by the host institution  Fulbright Scholarships  Challenges and rewards of living abroad

 Memorable experience  My wife and I still talk about our trips  Do I remember all the assignments I graded or these trips?  Chance to make international friends  Experience another culture and educational system  Get some scholarship done.

 We had free lodging and a kitchen in our university apartments.  Tax deductible business expenses  Flight, food, living expenses  Sabbatical salary  65% of year sabbatical

 What if you are not proficient in the language?  Most of the educated world speaks English.  Can you leave your comfort zone?  You cannot pack all of your clothes.  What about the dog?  We shipped him to our son in Denver.
