WP2 Labour Accounts: Finland Consortium meeting, Helsinki June 2005 This project is funded by the European Commission, Research Directorate General as part of the 6th Framework Programme, Priority 8, "Policy Support and Anticipating Scientific and Technological Needs".

Sources used in the NA series on labour volumes Main sources: Labour Force Survey: persons and hours Structural Business Statistics for mining, manufacturing, electricity (C, D, E), finance and insurance (J) and compulsory social security activities (753) Sector specific sources Other sources: Business register Register Employment Statistics

3 2. Estimation of labour input volumes Labour volumes are available in the Finnish NA (millions of hours) by NACE They are mainly based on the information from the LFS, which includes total numbers of hours actually worked in a year, as well as annual average numbers of persons in employment The NA and the LFS give, however different results due to the adjustments done in the NA A background paper examines the differences of the hours per head of these two sources
