Understand pre- employment requirements 1. Documentation –Social security card can be used to show proof of citizenship Not a high school diploma –Work permit (if applicable)

2. Pre-employment test –Ability –Performance –Physical ability –Drug screening –Polygraph –Psychological, will determine how well you will adjust to the job –Physical exam –Health certificate

3. Tax Requirements –Form W4, everyone that works must complete a W4 form Withholdings Allowances Exemptions –Proof of citizenship Social security card High school diploma is not

Resume Types There are two types to learn 1.Chronological, use if you have continuous work experience (cashier, shift manager, assistant manager) 2.Skills, use to focus on skills if there is no work experience (entry level work)

How will you advance in the company or business? Skills needed to advance in employment –Be friendly and outgoing –Get to know your supervisor –Volunteer to help –Keep informed –Keep a journal of accomplishments –Display a positive attitude –Accept feedback well –Demonstrate professionalism

Okay its time to move on to another job. What do you do?
