TASK A PowerPoint presentation informing you upon: Wi-Fi, 3G, WAP, Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a proprietary open wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances. It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization. Advantages: Low interference Inexpensive Wireless Disadvantages: Infrared is better Not secure Easily hackable

3G is the third generation of wireless technologies. It comes with enhancements over previous wireless technologies, like high- speed transmission, advanced multimedia access and global roaming, best for phones. Advantages: Overcrowding is relieved. Bandwidth, security. Availability of fixed and variable rates Disadvantages: Needs different handsets. Power consumption is high Requires closer base stations and are expensive

Wi-Fi, is a mechanism that allows electronic devices to exchange data wirelessly over a computer network. A device enabled with Wi-Fi, such as a personal computer, video game console, smartphone, tablet, or digital audio player, can connect to a network resource such as the Internet via a wireless network access point. Advantages: Convenient Mobility Productivity Disadvantages: Security Range Speed

WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol It enables you to go online while out and about. Ordinary web pages contain too much information to display properly on the small screens of mobile phones. To get around this, the mobile phone industry invented WAP. It takes existing pages and rewrites them in a special, simplified language. You’ll need to use a micro browser to see them. Advantages: Can be built on any operating system. Easy, and fast access to Internet. International standard. Disadvantages: Small screens Speed of access Price
