Review: Why England A.Land i.natural resources - iron and coal ii.separation from the European continent kept them out of wars B.Government i.trade encouraged and population allowed to relocate ii.helped build canals and roads C.Capital i.British society less rigid than other European countries D.Colonial Empire i.supplied raw material and provided market for goods E.Labor i.Large population of workers who moved from farms to cities.

Why England Review Reason #1: Labor: England had a large population of workers. Due to the improvements in agriculture, people ate more healthy food which resulted in a population increase. Also, new inventions in agriculture meant that many workers were displaced. A job in the field that might take dozens of men could now be done by a single machine. These farm workers found themselves out of a job and in search of new ones in urban factories. Reason #2: Land/Natural Resources: England had plentiful natural resources such as coal and iron. In addition, England has many rivers and harbors that make it easy to transport finish goods. Because England is separated from continental Europe, English soil never experienced any devastating foreign wars.
