What children will be learning… We shall be looking at the following two topics over the course of the Summer term : From A to B and Buildings

Summer term 1 and 2 From A to B ( Transport ) We will be learning about : Different types of transport How transport is used Transport of the future / and past How was transport invented ?

Summer term 2 Buildings : Materials used to make buildings Buildings from around the world Linking the materials buildings are made of to our Science topic – Materials. Structure of buildings.

Science Sound and Materials Experiments to name a variety of sounds Recognise that sounds get fainter as the distance from the sound source increases Comparing everyday materials and their uses Compare how things move on different surfaces.

Main focus in English and maths English Man on the Moon: A day in the life of Bob (Power of Reading) Word/sentence level work around simple and compound sentences. Using a range of punctuation. How you can help your child… Reading a range of different books together and talk about them with your child Discussing what they are learning at school and relating it to the home environment Encourage your child to talk about their day and if you have any concerns talk to the class teacher Practice times tables, handwriting and spellings at home

We need your help with… Homework tasks Revising high frequency words ( Y 2 are expected to learn 200 words ) Timetables 2, 5, 10 and beyond Encourage your child to make use of Mathematical skills in everyday situations eg Shopping, measuring when cooking and other household objects.
