French/Dutch Why did they settle in the new world? What were they interested in? How did they interact with the Native population?

Rivalry over Furs Dutch and French became rivals in the fur trade. Both had alliances with Native Americans French becmae good allies with the Huron's Dutch became allies with the Iroquois.
