Welcome to the Superintendent Parent Forum! lkfjasl;kfjal;sdkfja;lsdkfj Welcome to the Superintendent Parent Forum! This alignment will help us achieve our vision more quickly and efficiently.

Every Child Succeeds: How do we get there? What is the Denver Plan? Text here Every Child Succeeds: How do we get there? lkfjasl;kfjal;sdkfja;lsdkfj The Denver Plan will help everyone who has a role in our kids’ success, including parents, to define: What we believe Where we are going How we will get there The Denver Plan is our roadmap.

The Denver Plan’s History Starting in 2005, Denver Public Schools began creating five-year strategic plans to define our vision and identify our goals and strategies. 2005 Denver Plan 2010 Denver Plan

Text here What has changed since 2010? lkfjasl;kfjal;sdkfja;lsdkfj Why do we need to update the Denver Plan? New standards for teaching, learning and assessment Stronger focus on the whole child Adoption of Shared Core Values Since the Denver Plan was last updated in 2010, our vision and approach have evolved to best meet the needs of students, families and educators. The Denver Plan will be more impactful if it reflects these changes. - Colorado has implemented Common Core State Standards, which better prepare students for learning, citizenship and careers in the 21st century. - We have strengthened our focus on the whole child, including greater emphasis on character development, arts and enrichment, INSERT ADDITIONAL DETAIL HERE. - We have chosen and embraced Shared Core Values. These values, which guide all of our decisions and actions, are: Students First, Integrity, Equity, Collaboration, Accountability and Fun.

Text here 2014 Denver Plan Update The Denver Plan will help everyone in DPS, including your principals and teachers AND you as parents, to best support your child by providing greater clarity related to the following: Our Vision – what we all believe is possible for our kids Core Beliefs and Values – what we all want to guide our decision-making Goals – 3 to 5 major goals that we believe are key to achieving our vision Strategies – 3 to 5 key strategies that we believe will help us achieve those goals lkfjasl;kfjal;sdkfja;lsdkfj On this slide, really emphasize the “all” statement. Also mention that it will be “short and sweet” and accessible to everyone.

2014 Denver Plan Introduced Denver Plan Update Timeline Board-led process to draft Vision, Core Beliefs and Goals 2014 Denver Plan Drafted Internal and External engagement process to receive feedback on Draft Plan 2014 Denver Plan Introduced Internal and external engagement process to receive feedback on Core Beliefs and Goals The first phase of feedback collection has two components: Externally we will be focused on core beliefs and goals Internally, in addition to core beliefs and goals, we will also be collecting input on strategies. The rationale behind the different engagement focuses is that we feel our educators are best positioned to develop our strategies, while the broader community can provide input on them during the second wave of engagement Important to note that engagement is occurring in parallel with some drafting, so there will be different elements to share at different stages along the process; for example, today we can share out high-level draft goals, but at a future point we will be able to discuss the quantified breakdown of those goals Internal engagement process to draft 3-5 Strategies January - March April-May June
