Competition Broadly Covers 4 Business Sectors Financial Services Administrative Support Information Technology Management/Marketing/Human Resources

Pre-Judged Competitions Several contests are pre-judged. Judges for these projects will receive the team’s project prior to attending the conference for technical scoring. Scores will be ed prior to the conference for input on the contest rubric and will be added to the team's oral presentation score at the scheduled contest time.

Financial Services Economic Research Project Individual  One economic research topic is selected by the National Business Professionals of America and provided at the beginning of the school year. The student will conduct research on the topic and present findings in a research paper, an oral presentation, and respond to questions from a panel of judges.  Pre-Judged

Financial Services Economic Research Project Team  One economic research topic is selected by the National Business Professionals of America and provided at the beginning of the school year. Financial Services Financial Analyst Team  Teams will use analytical and problem-solving skills to make decisions and recommendations using financial reports, both internal and external. The team analyzes and interprets computer reports from a business case study. The team will present their report to the judges.

Administrative Support Administrative Support Research Project Individual  One administrative support topic is selected by National Business Professionals of America and provided at the beginning of the school year. The student will conduct research on the topic and present findings in a research paper, an oral presentation, and respond to questions from a panel of judges.  Pre-Judged

Information Technology Digital Media Production  The student will create a one to two minute digital media production based upon an assigned topic.

Information Technology Computer Animation Team  A team will create a 3-D visualization animation (not to exceed two minutes) based upon an assigned topic.  Pre-Judged

Information Technology Web Site Design Team  The team will work together to create a web site based on an assigned topic.  Pre-Judged

Information Technology Network Design Team  The team will analyze existing and planned business environments and develop a strategy for the implementation of a network infrastructure that addresses the need of the defined business environment. The team will present their network infrastructure to the judges.

Information Technology Web Application Team  The team will create a database driven web site with server-side functionality. The team is provided with the opportunity to design, build and present a working web application.  Pre-Judged

Information Technology Video Production Team  The student will create a three to five minute video production based upon an assigned topic.

Information Technology Software Engineering Team  The team will work together as a software engineering team to develop a system of applications that will share data and functions and/or procedures from an assigned topic.  Pre-Judged

Management/Marketing Human Resources Entrepreneurship  The student will develop an operating plan and organizational structure to initiate a small business. Competitors are to assume they are presenting their business plan to potential investors at a bank with the objective of securing financing for their business venture.  Pre-Judged

Management/Marketing Human Resources Graphic Design Promotion  The student will develop a theme, illustrate the theme in a logo design, then utilize the logo in a promotional flyer.  Pre-Judged

Management/Marketing Human Resources Interview Skills  The student will assess proficiency in job search and interview situations.  Pre-Judged

Management/Marketing Human Resources Advanced Interview Skills  The student will assess proficiency in job search, interview situations, and portfolio development.  Pre-Judged

Management/Marketing Human Resources Extemporaneous Speech  The student will demonstrate communication skills in arranging, organizing, and effectively presenting information orally without prior knowledge of the topic.

Management/Marketing Human Resources Human Resource Management  The student will assess interpretation of personnel policies and knowledge of human resource management.

Management/Marketing Human Resources Prepared Speech  The student will demonstrate communication skills in securing, arranging, organizing, and presenting an informative speech.

Management/Marketing Human Resources Presentation Management Individual  The student will assess the use of current desktop technologies and software to prepare and deliver an effective multimedia presentation to the judges based on a specific topic.

Management/Marketing Human Resources Presentation Management Team  The team will assess use of current desktop technologies and software to prepare and deliver an effective multimedia presentation to the judges based on a specific topic.

Management/Marketing Human Resources Global Marketing Team  The team will develop a plan that details pricing strategies and promotional plans for a business.  Pre-Judged

Management/Marketing Human Resources Small Business Management Team  The team will use strategic planning and problem-solving skills to provide solutions to the business case provided. The team will deliver their conclusions to the judges.

Management/Marketing Human Resources Parliamentary Procedure Team  The team will demonstrate the use of correct parliamentary procedure through a chairman’s ability to conduct a business meeting in a democratic manner that allows the members of the team to effectively participate. The team’s knowledge of parliamentary procedure will be examined through oral questions and an objective test.
