Air Racer Design and Layout

Step 1: Measure up 4” on each edge of the paper and make a mark Step 1: Measure up 4” on each edge of the paper and make a mark. Connect the two marks with a line.

Step 2: Measure 11” along the bottom edge of the paper and along the line you just made and put a mark. Connect these with a line

Step 3: Measure up 3” on each edge of the paper from the line you made earlier and make a mark. Connect the two marks with a line. Main Body Panel

Step 4: Make two boxes by measuring from the left edge of the paper 3” and 6” along the middle line and top line. These will become the fins.

Step 5: Make a mark ½” in from the edge of each box in the location shown Step 6: Make a mark ½” up on the line between the boxes as shown.

Fin Fin Step 7: Connect the marks with a line to complete the fins.

Fin Fin Step 8: Draw a line 3 ¾” to the right of the second fin as shown. Be sure to measure along both the top and bottom lines.

Fin Fin Step 9: Measure in 3/8” from each side of the box and draw a dotted line. Be sure to put a mark at the top and bottom of each line.

Step 10: Measure out 1/8” from each dotted line at the top of the box and put a mark as shown. Fin Fin Main Body Panel

Step 11: Connect a line from these marks to the bottom corner of the box as shown. Fin Fin Air Scoop Main Body Panel

Step 12: Have Mr. Merithew check all of your measurements before you cut out your parts. Cut only solid lines. Fin Fin Air Scoop Main Body Panel
