Purpose of MURA Companies Purpose: MURA facilitates the formation of university research corporations to promote, develop, and administer enterprises arising from research or technological innovations in order to take advantage of opportunities of scientific, educational, and economic impact. This is done by providing a procedural and regulatory framework that allows researchers to extend their work into the private sector and benefit Mississippi's economy.

Mississippi in 2025 What has been successful to date - –Opportunistic manufacturing (ex, Viking Range) (stable - if innovation is high) –Spin-Off Companies which are grown in Mississippi and stay in Mississippi (very stable) –Attracting companies to locate in Mississippi through our strong federal presence (can change quickly) Innovation, and not being exclusively the low cost provider is key (we are cheaper than the Midwest)
