1- To assist parents and students in making informed choices for grade To raise awareness of the types of courses and specialized programs offered at Agincourt. 3- To explain the course selection process. Goals :

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD ) PART 1 30 credits required for graduation ( 18 compulsory and 12 optional) PART 2 40 hours of Community Service 1- Volunteer hours that benefit the community 2- Can begin summer before enter grade 9 PART 3 Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)

Credit System Once a course is completed successfully a credit is earned To complete a course a student must achieve the following: 1- A mark of 50% or higher hours of class contact time

Grade 9 Course Levels Open Locally Developed Applied Academic

Locally Developed Courses Enjoys practical /hands on learning Enjoys working on short assignments Reads with support Works in a focused manner with prompting for a short period of time Requires reminders and much assistance to complete homework Is achieving at Level 1 or below in Grade 8 Expected Work Habits

Applied Courses Enjoys identifying, describing and comparing Enjoys practical /hands on learning Reads with some fluency Works in a focused manner with prompting Requires assistance to set deadlines for completing and doing homework Is achieving at Level 2 in Grade 8 Expected Work Habits

Academic Courses Enjoys learning the theory of a topic Enjoys analyzing, evaluating and interpreting Reads with fluency Works independently in a focused manner Completes homework thoroughly, independently and consistently Is achieving at Level 3 or greater in Grade 8 Expected Work Habits
